1. GATE Subject-wise Weightage
The GATE paper includes 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. The questions are from 3 sections, namely:
- General Aptitude
- Engineering Mathematics
- IN Concepts
Typically, the General Aptitude section carries 15 marks, Engineering Mathematics section carries 13 marks, and Core Engineering subjects make up the remaining 72 marks.
2. GATE 2023 Exam: Question Types
Having a clear idea of the Question Types in the GATE Exam can help applicants understand the exam pattern with relative ease. There are 3 types of questions in the GATE Exam, and they are as follows:
i. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Candidates should pick a correct answer from the available 4 options.
ii. Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) Applicants should select multiple correct answers from the available options.
iii. Numerical Answer Types (NAT) Candidates are required to enter a numerical value as an answer.
3. Negative Marking in GATE 2023
Candidates need to be careful while answering questions in the GATE exam, as negative marking can affect their GATE score. Before appearing for the GATE Exam, aspirants should have clarity about the GATE negative marking scheme. There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs, whereas wrong answers to MCQ questions will lead to negative marking and deduction in marks.
